Auckland Airport is delivering a significant capital works programme. The Senior Digital Engineer ensures this investment produces accurate, usable asset information that supports the business long after construction. The role sets projects up to deliver the right information by defining digital delivery expectations, including required data, formats, timing, contract requirements, BIM Execution Plans, and Common Data Environment (CDE) setup from day one.

 

About the role 

The role is responsible for working with a small team of Digital Engineering specialists, ensures BIM models, and reality capture data supporting Auckland Airport's Asset Information Models stay current, accurate, and useful to project and operational teams. It maintains active engagement with project teams, asset owners, and operational stakeholders, resolving issues, and keeping data on track.

Some of your key responsibilities will be: 

·  Engage with projects at inception to assess contractor digital delivery capability and ensure BIM and data obligations are established before procurement closes.

·  Identify opportunities to introduce digital tools and techniques that enhance project visibility, decision-making, and risk management across the capital programme.

·  Define and embed Auckland Airport’s digital delivery requirements for all capital projects, including AIDM, BIM execution plans, CDE configuration, and metadata standards.

·  Maintain accountability for the currency and accuracy of the BIM models and spatial data that underpin Auckland Airport's Digital Twin, ensuring they reflect the current state of the asset base and remain actively useful to project and operational teams.

· Collaborate with Spatial Data & Technology Lead to keep record models aligned with operational changes and asset updates.

·  Coordinate the collection, validation, and delivery of record information, including as-built models, drawings, specifications, and asset attributes.

·  Maintain and enforce Asset Information Requirements across all projects.

·  Support initiatives that enable future capabilities such as Digital Twin and predictive analytics.

·  Build strong relationships with internal teams such as Engineering Services, Operations, and Compliance to ensure information needs are understood and met.

To ensure your success in this role, you will need: 

  

·  14 years + working experience within large scale and complex infrastructure projects.

·   Including 5+ years’ experience configuring and using information management systems (i.e. Project Document Management Systems, Building Information Management, Geographical Information Systems, Enterprise Asset Management systems, or similar).

·  Strong understanding of GIS, asset information systems and protocols.

·   Excellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams

·   Experience in either Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Information Management, Geospatial, or a closely related field, and working within large infrastructure or capital works programs is desirable.
