The Engineering Services team is responsible for the Asset Management (AM) of some of Auckland Airport’s key infrastructure assets. These assets require a high level of reliability and resilience. The Roofing Technician (Specialist) within the Engineering Services team at Auckland International Airport will ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of AKL’s roofing and exterior building envelope systems by maintaining, repairing, inspecting, planning and coordinating works associated with airport roofing infrastructure.

 

About the role 

The role is responsible for undertaking Preventative, Corrective and Reactive roofing maintenance activities to standards or greater, including but not limited to terminal roofs, guttering systems, downpipes, flashings, waterproofing systems, roof penetrations, expansion joints, exterior cladding interfaces, access systems and associated building envelope assets across terminals, operational facilities, plant areas, airside and landside infrastructure.

 

Some of your key responsibilities will be: 

·         To undertake Preventative, Corrective and/or Reactive roofing Maintenance work for Auckland Airport assets.

·         Maintain detailed maintenance records (CMMS)

·         Conduct roof condition inspections, preventative and predictive inspections across airport facilities.

·         Conduct first response to roofing related faults, water ingress events and weather-related damage.

·         Undertake planned roofing repairs, minor works and project support works.

·         Carry out roofing fault finding, leak investigations and repairs associated with roofing systems, flashings, waterproofing membranes, gutters, downpipes and associated exterior building systems.

·         Assist in identifying long term roofing asset lifecycle requirements and renewal opportunities.

·         Participating in roof access inspections and ensure safe working at height practices are maintained.

·         Active participation in the Engineering Services on call requirements.

·         Monitoring stock level requirements and developing good stock control management for roofing consumables, materials and critical spares.

·         Build relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure stock levels and specialist roofing materials are maintained.

·         Understanding of the CAA regulations and Security Regulations at Auckland Airport

·         Maintain compliance with airside access requirements and security obligations while undertaking roofing works

What you’ll bring to the role

To ensure your success in this role, you will need: 

·         New Zealand Certificate in Roofing (Level 4) or equivalent

·         NZ Full Driver’s Licence Manual and Automatic

·         A minimum of 10 years hands on experience in roofing, waterproofing or building envelope maintenance within commercial,           industrial or high traffic environments, ideally with exposure to large commercial roofing systems.

·         Sound knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and relevant roofing industry standards.

·         Demonstrated capability to diagnose and address roofing and waterproofing issues under time constraints, particularly in urgent or emergency scenarios.   

·         Proven experience working alongside Engineers, Maintenance Planners, other trades and external contractors to coordinate work in shared operational spaces.
