Project Manager – Airfield Infrastructure -Fixed-Term (2 Years)

We're delivering one of New Zealand's largest airport infrastructure programmes and are looking for an experienced airfield project manager to help shape the future of aviation.

This is a rare opportunity to lead complex airfield and civil infrastructure projects in one of Australasia's busiest operational airport environments, where the work you deliver directly supports the safe and efficient operation of a critical national asset.

About the Role

You'll lead the delivery of major airfield infrastructure projects from planning and design through to construction, commissioning and operational handover, where no two projects are the same.

Working alongside Airfield Operations, engineers, contractors and business stakeholders, you'll balance project delivery with the operational realities of a live airport environment where safety, resilience and continuity of operations are paramount.

Projects may include:

• Runway, taxiway and apron pavement, drainage and other in-ground services
• Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL)
• In-ground Aviation fuel and supporting airside infrastructure
• Operational and safety-related airfield improvements

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Leading complex airfield and civil infrastructure projects through the full lifecycle from concept to completion
• Managing internal financial governance and PMO reporting data including ; scope, programme, cost, quality, safety and risk
• Coordinating construction within operational airside environments
• Managing consultants, contractors and commercial outcomes
• Working closely with operational, engineering and business stakeholders
• Live airside staging and operational continuity
• Compliance with Auckland Airport, CAA and ICAO Annex 14 standards
• Supporting project governance, reporting and decision-making
• Ensuring successful procurement, contract management, programme delivery, commissioning, operational readiness and asset handover

What You'll Bring

• A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Aviation Management or a related discipline
• 8+ years of experience delivering major infrastructure or civil construction projects
• Strong governance, commercial, contract and stakeholder management capability
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and contractors
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to balance operational, customer, safety and commercial outcomes

We're looking for an experienced infrastructure project leader who can successfully deliver complex construction projects while navigating multiple stakeholder, operational and commercial interfaces.

Experience in any of the following would be highly regarded:

• Airports or aviation infrastructure including Runway, taxiway or apron projects
• Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL), or similar mission critical electrical infrastructure
• Aviation fuel infrastructure, or similar in-ground mechanical systems
• Constrained live and operational environments where safety and continuity are critical
