About the role
Auckland Airport is a complex, safety-critical environment where operational excellence, compliance and capability matter every day. We’re looking for anexperienced OperationsTraining and Standards Manager to lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of training frameworks across our operations business unit.
This is a senior role for a strong people leader who has built strategic training frameworks in an operational environment and knows how to grow capability, lift standards and modernise training delivery.
What you’ll be doing
Reporting to theSenior Manager Operations Process and Change,you’ll lead Auckland Airport’s Operations Training and Standards function and teams. You’llwork closely with operational leaders to identify capability gaps, improve existing training frameworks, strengthen compliance, and introduce more efficient and modern ways of learning — including online and e-learning content, blended learning, simulation and on-the-job training.
You’ll also play a key role in supporting the AES fire team by helping modernise their training framework and ensuring training remains aligned with current policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Your key responsibilities are:

Lead and optimise operational training frameworks across Auckland Airport.

Design and deliver regulatory, technical, functional and career progression training.

Modernise learning through e-learning, online content, simulation and blended training solutions.

Ensure training materials, assessments and standards remain current, compliant and audit ready.

Identify efficiencies and improvements across training delivery, systems and processes.

Grow operational capability by identifying skills gaps and building practical learning pathways.

Lead and develop a team of trainers and instructors, including managing performance, engagement and attendance matters.

Manage training budgets, contracts, suppliers and external training packages.

Support the ongoing development of the Rescue Fire Training Centre and AES fire training framework.

Build strong relationships across Operations, People & Capability, Health and Safety, regulators, emergency services and training providers.

You’ll be a senior training professional with strong operational experience and the confidence to lead in a complex, regulated environment. You’ll bring a balance of strategic thinking, hands-on training expertise, technical learning capability and strong people leadership.
To ensure your success in this role, you will need:

Training experience in aviation or airport operations would be highly regarded

Significant experience in senior training, learning and development, operational capability or training standards roles.

Experience creating or improving strategic training frameworks in an operational environment.

Strong knowledge of adult learning, instructional design and competency-based training.

Technical e-learning and online content development experience.

Proven ability to optimise training frameworks and improve efficiency, consistency and outcomes.

Strong people management capability, including leading teams and managing performance.

Experience managing budgets, contracts, suppliers or training packages.

Strong understanding of policy, procedure, standards and compliance requirements.
-
Operational experience in a regulated or safety-critical environment.
