What you will be doing

The Infrastructure Planning Manager plays a critical role in bringing together planning and schedule integration across Auckland Airport’s infrastructure portfolio. You will lead the development of a credible, integrated view of delivery across programmes and projects, ensuring scope, schedules, dependencies, interfaces, constraints and risks are aligned and clearly understood.

Working across a complex, multi-project capital portfolio, you will own the integrated master schedule, drive consistent planning standards and provide high-quality analysis and advice to Programme Directors and senior leaders. You will help create confidence in delivery by identifying emerging pressures early, challenging assumptions and ensuring planning supports informed decisions across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, handover and operational readiness.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Lead and maintain the portfolio-wide planning framework, standards, methodologies and controls across infrastructure programmes and projects.
  •  Own and maintain the integrated master schedule, providing a consolidated and credible view of delivery across the infrastructure portfolio.
  • Identify schedule opportunities and lead the process to realize schedule opportunities by engaging with project teams to align the integrated master schedule.
  •  Integrate programme and project schedules across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, handover, and operational readiness.
  • Identify and manage cross-project dependencies, interfaces, constraints, critical paths, and competing delivery priorities.
  •  Monitor delivery against approved baselines and provide early warning of schedule pressures, readiness risks, and emerging delivery constraints.
  • Lead portfolio planning reporting, schedule analysis, and executive briefing material, translating complex information into clear decision support.
  •  Support gateway reviews, assurance and governance processes through robust planning evidence, baseline management, and change control.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to Programme Directors, providing constructive challenge and portfolio-level insight to strengthen delivery confidence.
  • Lead planning capability and continuous improvement across the portfolio, promoting consistent standards and effective ways of working.

What you will bring to the role

At Auckland Airport, we are a busy hive of activity, and a lot of what we look for is how you would align with our AKL values All In | Tātou tatou – How we feel, Know How | Kōkiri Tahi – How we think and Let’s Go | Karawhiua – How we act.

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in construction management, engineering, project management, infrastructure management, or related discipline.
  • 15+ years’ experience in project and programme scheduling within complex capital development programmes.
  • At least 10 years’ experience using Oracle Primavera P6, with strong expertise in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Power BI, and advanced Excel.
  •  Significant senior experience in planning, portfolio integration, project controls, programme management or major project delivery within complex infrastructure or capital works environments.
  •  Strong knowledge of integrated scheduling, project controls, risk management, and governance frameworks relevant to major capital delivery.
  • Experience leading planning across large, multi-project portfolios and managing complex cross-project dependencies and competing priorities.
  • Experience across the full project lifecycle, including planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Proven ability to provide executive reporting, delivery assurance, and clear decision support in a complex stakeholder environment.
  • Strong influencing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex planning issues into clear, practical advice.
