Operations
Runway ready
Operations teams keep things moving at Auckland Airport: the aircraft, the people and the cargo.
We’re New Zealand’s main aviation gateway, running 24/7 across two terminals, over three kilometres of runway, and handling more than 150,000 aircraft movements every year.
That’s a lot of paddles in the water and we need the most dedicated people to keep this waka heading in the right direction.
On the job
At Auckland Airport, no two days are the same, especially at the frontline of our operations. While flights run to a schedule, changes can happen with only a moment’s notice. Our people are right there, sorting things out and making sure every arrival and departure is managed smoothly and safely.
We take this responsibility seriously, always looking to go over and above for the tens of thousands of travellers coming through our doors every day. We manage things big and small – whether it’s lost teddies, arriving sports heroes, weather disruptions, or keeping wildlife (and aircraft) safe around our airfield – we’re always on hand.
At the heart of the airport
Our people are what makes it happen.
There’s nowhere else quite like AKL to see people getting on with things in such an “all in” way.
Whether on the frontline with travellers or behind the scenes, keeping the course of the waka true, we reckon this is the best example you’ll ever see of a can-do approach.
Connecting AKL
Airports are places where things happen and it takes a special type of person to keep a sense of calm.
Whether we’re allocating aircraft gates or helping guests who are running late, or facing widespread flight disruptions due to bad weather, we’ve got this.
It’s our people on the front line, using their know how, or as we say at AKL, kokiri tahi.
