What you will be doing
We are in search of an Airport Security Coordinator, in a permanent role to join our team. Our team is responsible for a wide range of security and safety tasks at Auckland Airport. This includes managing unattended bags to ensure compliance with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations, which may involve covert operations. We maintain the integrity of the airside boundary fence and respond to incidents involving disorderly or intoxicated passengers, as well as assisting members of the public experiencing mental health issues, along with other incidents. Additionally, we enforce Auckland Airport By-Laws, collaborate with the New Zealand Police to resolve incidents within the airport, and conduct ongoing investigations into criminal activities by members of the public and breaches against airport workers who fail to comply with specific rules necessary for maintaining their access cards, as well as other individuals using the airport for commercial purposes.
The hours for this role is based on a rostered shift pattern: You will be required to work a roster of 6 days on and 3 days off consisting of Morning, Afternoon and Nights shifts (Mornings 0600-1500, Afternoons 1430 – 2300 and Nights 2230 – 0700). It is essential that you are available and committed to working a rostered shift pattern.
Your key responsibilities are:
- Respond and attend to reported security incidents on airport premises in a timely manner
- Thoroughly investigate & document security incidents and follow them through and resolve where possible
- Conduct proactive preventative tasks such as foot and mobile patrols to detect and deter any potential criminal activities
- Provide support to any emergency or planned events which may affect airport operations
- Ensure company policies and procedures in place around the security of information from company systems i.e. CCTV & Access control, are always complied with
- Effectively utilise technical systems (including CCTV) to support the day-to-day operations of the Airport
- Develop and enhance close working relationships with airport stakeholders, border agencies & police for the on-going betterment of the safety & security of the Airport Precinct
- Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive matters attended to or investigated by the team

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:
- To have an inquiry mindset and can investigate incidents proactively and independently
- To possess strong customer service skills with experience, along with the ability to communicate professionally and clearly, both orally and in writing
- Previous experience working in a security, operations or investigative environment in is valuable however it is not a requirement as long as you have the right mindset to learn and work hard, continuous training will be provided to provide you with the relevant skills and knowledge to thrive in the role
- Experience working in a complex stakeholder environment
- Well-developed skills as a team contributor, with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functional lines
- Ability to learn and affectively utilize complex computer applications
- Excellent relationship-building skills at all levels of the organisation with the ability to build strong networks with key stakeholders
- Demonstrated success in applying influence and/or negotiating to achieve a win/win outcome
- Ability to think strategically and cope with business complexity
- Open mind to learn relevant legal frameworks in New Zealand
