Senior Sustainability Advisor

We are looking for a Senior Sustainability Advisor to join our team at Auckland Airport to support the implementation of Auckland Airport’s sustainability strategy and integrating sustainability principles and practices into all aspects of the Airport’s operations. Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, you will be part of the delivery of strategic sustainability work programmes. Our current focuses are decarbonisation, waste reduction, nature enhancement and climate.  

Key responsibilities will include:  

• Leading the development and implementation of key sustainability workstreams, with support from the Sustainability Manager and wider team 

• Engaging with internal and external stakeholders across the airport to facilitate greater outcomes 

• Contributing to the annual disclosure and reporting, including climate

While we’re primarily looking for a Senior Sustainability Advisor who has experience across a diverse range of sustainability topics, we will shape this role to build on your strengths, and this may include changes to the position description, responsibilities and/or title. We’re also open to applications from subject matter experts in the areas of aviation decarbonisation or climate risk, adaptation and reporting. 

To ensure your success in this role, you will need: 

• 7+ years’ experience with proven track record leading sustainability initiatives within complex organisations   

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Engineering or similar 

• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills and ability to work across all levels of the business and airport precinct 

• Critical thinking skills to evaluate multiple solutions and articulate strengths and weaknesses clearly.  

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills to people at all levels of a business, from operational teams through to leadership. 

• Project management skills and an ability to prioritise across multiple workstreams
