What you will be doing
As the Senior Compliance Officer you will join a highly dedicated and supportive team to deliver effective management of Auckland Airport’s fire and building compliance portfolio as part of an enterprise-wide regulatory compliance program. This is an operational and technical leadership opportunity to build and enhance overall fire and building safety compliance line 2 of defence capability of Auckland Airport.
In this position you will own the key operational fire evacuation schemes and work with all areas of the business to ensure fire evacuations trials, fire safety audits, BWOF system and associated corrective actions are compliant and being kept up to date as required.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Develop and manage the compliance and assurance matrix for the statutory framework of the relevant legislation relating to the fire and Building portfolio
- Lead and own the International Terminal Building and Domestic Terminal Building Fire Strategy
- Lead operational evacuation schemes to ensure we comply with regulations and evacuations are optimised
- Develop and maintain an annual compliance monitoring plan to ensure procedures are compliant with all current legislation
- Support the Building Compliance Manager with fire related BWOF compliance and work with the related fire reliability engineers on key operational fire compliance issues
- Ensure that incidents and near misses relating to your portfolio are investigated and followed up

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:
- A Fire Engineer Degree (essential)
- 5+ years experience in Fire & Emergency or Building Compliance Scheme Applications or relevant working experience transferrable to this role
- Experience working in a regulated environment is desirable
- Experience with the building code from a fire compliance perspective
- Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks three lines of defense
- Ability to adapt your communication to a variety of audiences
- Excellent relationship-building skills at all levels of the organization
- Ability to think strategically and cope with business complexity
- Adaptability and a willingness to learn
