Property & Retail Accountant

What you will be doing

In the Finance team we deal with all things money, and we are offering a great opportunity for a Property & Retail Accountant to join the team.

In this role, you will partner with the Property & Commercial team to provide accounting support particularly with the newly opened Mānawa Bay Premium Outlet Centre. The Property & Commercial Business Unit has specific needs, particularly in the initial year of operation to assist with the set up and transition to a normal operational model and this role will be a key point of contact for accounting and finance issues for the team. You will be responsible for accurately capturing financial data and report on performance of Mānawa Bay and other assigned properties within our wider investment property portfolio.

Your key accountabilities will be:

• Monthly Financial Reporting – Ensuring timely collection of information to produce reports and forecasts as required; preparing all necessary accruals and general ledger reconciliations; preparing all reforecasts
• Periodic Financial Reporting – Preparing percentage rent budgets/forecasts/adjustments; managing lease schedules outlining any major lease variations that will impact monthly invoicing
• Budgeting and Forecasting – Preparation of annual budgets, including income and expense forecasts, commentary, variance analysis & cashflows; preparing any financial reforecasts within the period; recommending improvements to budget allocations, methodology and timetabling
• Continuous Improvement – Contribute to system and process change relevant to Mānawa Bay and other property leases

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:

• CA qualified, or equivalent qualification, or close to being qualified
• 3-5 years’ of relevant experience
• Demonstrated ability to lead and provide solutions/systems for setting up new business activities
• Previous experience working to deadlines or in a fast-paced environment
• Working with a variety of different people in different positions within companies
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Previous experience in Property or shopping centre environment would highly recommended
