What you will be doing

Our Operations Training & Standards Team are essential to ensuring that our operational

teams At Auckland Airport (AKL) which include Security, Airfield, Landside Operations, Wildlife & Bird, Fire & Rescue, Front Line Customer Service staff and Volunteers are trained and ready to meet their deliverables.

This is a brand-new role to our team as we move into the eLearning realm of which you will be the leader. We are looking for a Learning & Development Partner whose primary role will be Instructional Design focusing on the online delivery of eLearning to our Operations teams. This is a new skill set being added to the way that we better serve our internal and third-party customers more effectively.   eLearning and LMS administration of OTST courses will be the focus for the first 12 months in the role.

Once you’ve created some vital content that we need right now, you will teach your fellow Learning & Development Partners how to do it too. Therefore, coaching should be something you are open and happy to do. Knowledge is only powerful when it is shared.

Some of the exciting work that you will get to do…

  • Show our Customer Service team how to make everyone feel informed, heard and cared for with in-person and online content
  • Go behind the scenes training our teams how to triage communications, how to drive safely around the airfield and…we have some 3D tools we want you to own
  • Learn all the facets of how people check in and get themselves and their luggage safely onto a plane
  • Be part of a team who train our Firefighters how to keep us safe

Your key responsibilities are:

  • The delivery of training using best practice adult education principles, ensuring all content is delivered to cover regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Develop, deliver, and continuously improve the AKL operational training including ensuring documented training plans and footprints are in place and kept up to date for all employees
  • Empower our on-the-job trainers via Train the Trainer courses to ensure quality training is monitored throughout our workforce
  • Training design is in synergy with other areas of the business to allow for maximum coverage across the operation (have a holistic view of training at AKL)
  • Capture training feedback to ensure 2-way feedback gives us constant information and opportunities to improve
  • Owning and maintaining complete control of training documents and collateral including capturing attendance
  • Perform any other accountabilities as reasonably assigned to the position from within the other functions of the Operations Training & Standards Team

What you will bring to the role

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:

  • Degree Qualification in Social Sciences, Education or Graphic Design will be highly valued as a nice to have
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a training facilitator
  • Classroom Facilitation experience is essential, being a confident presenter who is comfortable training large groups
  • 5 years’ experience creating eLearning modules is an essential skill therefore your work history and evidence of what you have produced on the job is one of the most essential qualification for this role - we use Articulate Storyline and Rise
  • Experience in Learning Management System administration – we currently use LITMOS is highly desirable but not a must have
  • Video creation and editing skills – we currently use Camtasia
  • Voice over experience is a nice to have, we know that our trainees like to see and hear our content
  • Confidence in relationship building, gaining credibility quickly and possessing the personality to lead and influence others
  • Leadership confidence with the ability to coach and provide feedback to senior managers and a mature conversationist who knows how to talk professionally to all our stakeholders with confidence and respect
  • Sound business writing and verbal communication skills, including well-developed presentation skills
  • To love working in a team where ‘knowledge sharing’ and supporting is the baseline and you take pride in leadings others to have the amazing skills you posses
