What you will be doing
Lead a successful small team including a Financial Accountant, Capital Assets Accountant and Assistant Accountant. As a senior member of the Finance Team you will lead the external reporting processes, capex and asset register processes. You will be the subject matter expert on the impact of fixed asset / capex decisions in relation to profitability, tax efficiency and regulatory impacts.
Your key responsibilities are:
- Prepare financial statements (i.e. annual and interim reports) and liaise with auditors
- Prepare AFRC and Board papers relating to the financial statements
- Contribute to the monthly accounting processes and a share of the month-end reporting and reconciliation processes
- Provide backup to other Finance Managers within the Finance team as required from time to time
- Responsible for the capex accounting and control processes
- Lead the revaluation process of Auckland Airports fixed assets
- Contribute to continuous improvement and act as a key finance representative on projects
What you’ll bring to the role

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) in accountancy, finance or similar
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA/CPA)
- Minimum of 6 years practical accounting experience, including experience in a large commercial organisation or CA firm
- Proven relationship management/interpersonal skills
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Technical accounting knowledge in New Zealand GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards
- Advanced knowledge in Excel and large ERP systems
