What you will be doing
We are looking for a Duty Operations Manager to join our team here at Auckland Airport. Responsible for the effective operational leadership of our terminals, and the emergency operations centre. The Duty Operations Manager is a critical role that ensures the airport operation delivers exceptional service and maintains safety standards to all passengers, visitors and employees while they’re at Auckland Airport.
At Auckland Airport we thrive on collaboration and by being a team player you will ensure all our guests have a seamless journey. This is a full-time permanent position, currently working on a 4 days on, 4 days off rostered pattern with variable shift start times.
Your key responsibilities are:
- Oversee the effective operation of the Terminals, and broader airport precinct, including emergency incidents, general operations, the Incident Control Room, and communications and monitoring functions
- The designated Response Coordinator for the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) when on duty, ensuring swift and effective emergency management while restoring to business as usual operations as quickly as possible
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on aerodrome licensing, Civil Aviation Regulations Part 139, and access control systems
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify and manage potential risks or disruptions to the airport ecosystem, to mitigate impacts before they materialise
- Lead and develop Landside Operations Teams by clearly communicating our vision and strategy, fostering team engagement, and ensuring alignment with operational and strategic goals
- Lead by example, promoting a strong health and safety culture through visible, proactive safety practices and communication

What you’ll bring to the role

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in operational, safety or other relevant senior roles in a range of industries/ sectors
- Proven experience within high risk, safety or security-sensitive environments and organisations
- Highly developed engagement and relationship skills with a proven ability to influence effectively at all organisational levels as well as across a range of stakeholders
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information for a wide range of audiences
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in leading and coaching operational teams
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Experience managing Health and Safety in a supervisory capacity
