The roles

Auckland Airport is a nationally significant infrastructure with more than 800 businesses operating from the 1,500-hectare Precinct and our considerable infrastructure development portfolio needs to be delivered within an operational environment that caters for many customers and stakeholders. This presents a unique and exciting challenge.

Our infrastructure development portfolio, encompassing both vertical and horizontal infrastructure, has over $5B of work within a fully operational environment, and presents a unique and exciting challenge. A cornerstone of our success will be effective management of the numerous moving parts within our portfolio capital works programme and having strong experienced Construction Operations professionals is key to this success.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity which will require not only solid construction experience and excellent planning skills but also strong communication, both written and verbal, collaboration and influencing ability across a range of stakeholder both internal and external to the airport.

We have multiple purpose driven projects from initial requirements gathering all the way through to planning timelines, cost management and delivering quality outcomes on time and on budget. Being able to demonstrate project principles in a safe complex environment will be key to the success of the projects whilst providing a challenging and highly rewarding career in the Aviation sector.

Working within teams of exceptional professionals delivering a range of projects with a focus on various infrastructure construction within this safety critical environment, with a strong pipeline of exciting projects to deliver, our Construction Operations team needs to ensure that contractor, consultant and stakeholder work in the field is properly planned, resourced and coordinated within airport operations. They will support safe, timely and cost-effective quality delivery, while maintaining a high standard of passenger safety and experience, and operational effectiveness.

What to bring to the role

To ensure success, we need candidates with:

• Tertiary level qualification in Engineering, Construction or related discipline, and a professional industry affiliation is highly desired
• Significant construction management experience on complex infrastructure and/or civil projects (transportation and airport experience is an advantage but not mandatory)
• Experience in large scale, brownfields projects either in civil/roading or vertical build, in building development in NZ or Australia would be a great advantage
• Experience in highly controlled or regulated projects and industries an advantage
• Strong technical knowledge of construction execution planning and processes
• Extensive knowledge of materials used in airports and knowledge on how materials are procured, fitted and maintained
• Strong understanding of effective and efficient project administration systems
• Highly organised with excellent communication skills
• Strong stakeholder engagement as being a confident relationship builder and able to relate easily to a diverse range of people is essential
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Collaborative and pragmatic approach to working as part of a team
