We are looking for experienced Electricians to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of AIAL Airfield Lighting systems.

The job…

In this role, you’ll be a valued member of our AGL team within Engineering Services, responsible for the Asset Management (AM) of some of Auckland Airports key infrastructure assets, including the Airfield Lighting, control systems and airfield power supply. Ensuring our AGL systems continue to operate safely, with a high level of reliability and resilience while being maintained to the highest standards to achieve this reliability will be your goal. Your role will be crucial to ensure we maintain a safe operating environment for our airline customers and guests.

The airfield environment is complex but interesting, with some unique challenges (and opportunities!) in our regulated, high-security, safety-focused business.  As a 24/7 operation, some of the complexity comes from delivering new technology without affecting existing systems.

In this role you will:

  • Support the Airfield Lighting Team Leader, as a source of technical knowledge and expertise related to the airfield lighting and power assets.
  • Conduct fault analysis and resolution
  • Perform maintenance on various light fixtures such as PAPI, runway lighting, in-pavement runway stop bars, taxiway centreline lighting and elevated runway, taxiway and apron edge lighting
  • Perform maintenance on Airfield Lighting Support Facilities including constant current regulators.
  • Carry out inspections to verify electrical equipment operation and serviceability and recommends corrective action; takes action to make necessary adjustments or alignments to correct the condition of airfield facilities.
  • Troubleshoot system failures and repairs systems as required.
  • Maintain lighting inventory, informing the Team Leader of purchase requirements.
  • Receive and completes Airfield Electrical work orders, including emergency work.

The person…

One of the key criteria for this role is your ability to fit in well with the team and staff and a willingness to learn and pitch in when required to assist others. Along with this, you will need the following skills and attributes:

  • Qualified registered electrician (EWRB) with current practicing license. An electrical inspector license would be an advantage.
  • A understanding of AGL and ALCMS/ILCMS is preferred but not required, training will be provided.
  • An understanding of airfield electrical power supply systems is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Be self-motivated and capable of working both independently and within a large team.
