Building AKL
It’s the sheer scale of construction activity that tells the story of Auckland Airport’s future.
Currently 400,000sqm of aeronautical-focused infrastructure is in development across transport,
terminal and airfield projects – the most significant upgrade in AKL’s history.
A pipeline of work for the long haul
As the largest private infrastructure build in Auckland, AKL’s design and construction programme is creating climate resiliency, expanding the airfield, enabling faster processing for travellers and their baggage, and delivering a greater experience for everyone who transits, visits, and works in our aviation precinct, and especially for our airline partners.
From building our new domestic terminal, to improving the way people arrive and depart from the airport, we need people like you to help make it happen.

I had a stint in ‘the UK then we finally decided it was time to come home. I was fortunate enough to work consulting to the airport, then when a permanent role came up, I jumped at the chance.
The environment is complex, is like no other from a design point of view, and is continually changing. It’s fantastic to see the long-term plans, like the jet terminal, coming to life.
I’m not a plane spotter, but you could say I’m an architectural geek – my favourite building would have to be the Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona.
I’m from the Philippines, but most of my professional carrier has been influenced in the Middle East.
I worked at both Abu Dhabi and Dubai International Airports and those are very different challenges to AKL. They’re bigger, but that also means space isn’t much of an issue, unlike here where we’ve got to deal with confine zones meaning there’s a different type of planning needed.
One of the best things about NZ is the weather. Unlike the Middle East, where there are times you’re restricted to work outside in the intense summer heat and humidity.
