About AKL

New Zealand’s gateway

AKL today

Almost 60 years on, Auckland Airport still inspires and connects those with an adventurous
spirit – a unique 1,566-hectare precinct of travel, enterprise and trade, entertainment,
dining, shopping and hospitality.

Our aeronautical business

In total, 26 international airlines fly from Auckland Airport to 42 international destinations in Australia, the Pacific Islands, North and South America and Asia.

Nationally, airlines connect with 20 destinations from Auckland. Each year, we manage over 150,000 aircraft movements.

Once in a generation upgrade

As New Zealand’s main gateway, our infrastructure programme reflects this responsibility.
It is investment which will deliver critical assets that will have decades of ongoing use and
create the uplift in experience travellers are asking for.

A thriving aviation precinct

Beyond the airfield, Auckland Airport is a property developer and landlord, providing high-quality premises and services to a host of retail outlets inside the terminals as well as businesses within the surrounding precinct.

Our three hotels offer quality accommodation, and we work hard to make life easier for our customers, offering a variety of car-parking facilities, including a valet service, and our online digital shopping channel.

Empowered community

We value our strong links with the community, connecting local people to employment opportunities and by ensuring our team has the support to thrive in their careers.

We seek a deeper understanding of what makes them unique so we can continue to cultivate an inclusive place of work that contributes to the success of our business and the economy.

We work in partnership with local iwi, engaging on tikanga for events within our operations, stages of our infrastructure build, and sharing information and understanding through regular kaitiaki hui covering resource management processes, and future airport development.
